thousands of Stray Dogs live on Romania's streets, they mainly stay close to bus, train and fuel stations, schools, restaurants, factories or even cemeteries, places where they can beg for food. The biggest Animal Shelter in the World is close to Bucharest, it used to be a fox farm during Ceaucescus Time.

A german NGO bought the Farm and since than offers a shelter for thousands  of dogs. The Romanian government started a few years ago to face the issue and euthanised thousands of stray dogs to clear the streets until they were forced in 2008 to establish a law to protect them rather than killing them.
