Berlin Zeitgeist

Berlin was the main stage where the most significant historical events of the 20th century took place. In a relatively brief period of time, the German capital witnessed the rise and fall of Nazism, socialist dogmatism and capitalist pragmatism, culminating in a divided city, mirroring a divided country. The wall also became an image of a parted world.

Today, almost two decades after the collapse of the wall and the reunification of Germany, Berlin’s daily life deeply resonates with the past. Layers of history form a dense visual fabric that drapes its uneven surface, full of idiosyncrasies, contradictions and memories.
