Gerlach [pop:180]

This is the beginning of a greater project on the American Dream that resulted from a childhood fascination of mine with the topic.   An adventure across the epic Western American landscape that took me to Black Rock dessert, Nevada.  There I stumped upon Gerlach, a small dessert village with a population of 180.  I was immediately thrilled by its graphic character and the presence of the American cliche in its most truthful existence.  However, what impressed me even more, was the people's stories and their bold sense of freedom realized by the surrounding open land.  Gerlach [pop:180] is essentially a visual study of rural America in 2008.
