ENGLADESH
Engladesh is a multimedia documentary exploring how migration to the UK is transforming an area of former British colony Bangladesh
Seventy years of exodus have led to profound changes in the Sylhet region of Bangladesh, where ninety percent of the UK’s 500,000 British-Bangladeshis originate.
Engladesh follows a politician, a philanthropist and a wedding fixer as they return to their birthplace. Their stories reveal migration’s impact on the social fabric of communities and how, for Sylhetis , Britain is still a promised land.
Sylhet’s metamorphosis mirrors communities across the world whose populations are on the move and offers a window into Britain’s imperial past.
